About the Author
In Cori's childhood, her family often hiked. Each year, in the wildflower season her mother would tell the same story. It was the tale of Miss Rumphius, the lupin lady, who accomplished the most difficult task of all: to make the world more beautiful.
As an adolescent, Cori's parents wrote a chapter in a book. At the launch party, a famous novelist – who also had been an author in it – openly announced their chapter to be the best. Everyone cheered! Not politely but wholeheartedly, for the ordinary humans Cori had eaten peanut butter sandwiches with in the car. Shortly after, Cori began writing.
When she became an adult, Cori realized if she stopped creating stories an important piece of her would die, so through life's significant fist bumps and face plants, she has continued to write. Cori is currently working on her eighth full length story. She has owned and sold two local magazines, and her tales have received a smattering of accolades. Blah blah blah. Of her accomplishments, most of the credit goes to the stinky, beautiful humans with whom she shares a home. They have taught her the stuff of life. Between her blended family of ten and the eight stories she has been able to get out of her head and onto paper, Cori has been one of the lucky ones.
She lives in the best place on earth, but she apologizes, she can't share where -- the locals wouldn't appreciate it, overpopulation concerns and all. Cori hopes you will forgive her because you, glorious reader, are her favorite dawn-cresting daydream.
These years later, Cori still thinks most days of Miss Rumphius, and the challenge that story offered. She hopes that this book may be a single lupin flower for you. Above all, she thanks the Joy Maker for causing the wildflowers to grow on rough terrain.
